      A continuous co-phase traction power supply system based on delta-connected cascaded H-bridge converter for electrified railway, which can solve the problems of non-electrical zone called neutral section and power quality issues when supplying power to locomotives and reduce the capacity of the converter, is presented in this paper. The converter of this system contains three chains, which can be controlled separately to deliver stable single-phase AC power and solve the power quality problems of the grid. A control algorithm to balance DC capacitor voltages among the chains and submodules within each chain when the system is running is also proposed in the paper. The effectiveness of the system is verified by simulation in the operation modes without and with the power quality management, respectively.
