황순원 초기 문학 연구 : 희곡 「직공생활(職工生活)」에 나타난 계급의식과 민족의식 = A Study on Hwang Soon-Won `s Early Literature : Class consciousness and national consciousness in play Factory Worker`s Life

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고는 황순원이 ≪조선일보≫에 발표한 희곡 「職工生活」에 대해 검토하기 위한 목적에서 연구를 수행했다. 독자투고 형식으로 ≪조선일보≫에 1932년 6월 27일부터 1932년 6월 29일까지 3회에 걸쳐 발표된 이 희곡에 대해 내재적으로 분석한 그동안의 선행연구는 전무하다. 본고는 국문학 연구 중 최초로 「職工生活」에 대한 작품 분석을 수행함으로써, 「職工生活」에 나타난 계급의식과 민족의식이 이 희곡의 주제의식이라는 점을 규명했다.
이 희곡은 두 가지 측면에서 중요성을 지닌다. 첫째, 「職工生活」은 황순원의 초기 문학을 연구할 수 있는 자료로서 가치와 의의를 지닌다. 둘째, 「職工生活」은 황순원이 소년 시절 품었던 계급의식과 민족의식을 보여주는 자료로서도 의미를 지닌다. 따라서 본고는 「職工生活」에 대한 작품 분석을 통해 황순원의 희곡「職工生活」의 주제의식을 발견하고 그의 초기 문학 세계를 검토하였다.
황순원의 사상적 스펙트럼이 문학 활동 초기에 사회주의와 결부되고 있었다는 점은 본 연구를 통해 드러난 바이다. 황순원은 「職工生活」이후 발표한 시와 소설에서 「職工生活」에서 보여주었던 계급의식을 보여주지 않는다. 『放歌』에서는 청년을 시적 화자로 내세운 시들에서 민족의식과 일본에 대한 저항의식이 나타나지만, 『放歌』로부터 2년 뒤에 나온 『骨董品』은 짧은 시들의 모음집으로 역사 및 민족, 시대와 무관한 경향을 보인다. 이 시집에서는 대상에 대한 묘사와 함께 언어의 조탁과 연마가 실험된다. 이렇게 황순원의 초기 문학 세계는 계급적 관심사에서 출발해 민족주의를 경유하여 언어를 가다듬는 시의 창작으로 진행된다. 한편 「거리의 副?」로 데뷔한 후에 그가 창작한 소설에서 그는 노골적으로 계급과 민족에 대한 자신의 생각을 드러내지 않는다. 대신에 그는 「학」, 「탈」, 「나의 죽부인전」과 같은 작품에서 이념과 계급을 초월한 화해와 조화 및 타자에 대한 지식인의 책무를 다루는 방향으로 나아간다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In this paper, I study Hwang Soon-Won`s Factory Worker`s Life in the Chosun Ilbo. This play was published three times from June 27, 1932 to June 29, 1932 in the Chosun Ilbo. However, there is no preceding research on this play.
In this paper, I analyze Factory Worker`s Life for the first time in the history of study of Korean literature. And I identifies that the class consciousness and the national consciousness as the theme of Factory Worker`s Life.
Factory Worker`s Life is important in two respects. First, Factory Worker`s Life is valuable and significant as a resource to study Hwang Soon-won`s early literature. Second, Factory Worker`s Life is also meaningful as data showing class consciousness and national consciousness that Hwang Soon-won had in his youth. Therefore, this study finds the theme of Factory Worker`s Life and identifies his early literary world by analyzing his play Factory Worker`s Life.
This study reveals that Hwang Soon-won`s ideological spectrum was associated with socialism at the beginning of literary activities. Hwang Soon-won does not show the class consciousness that was shown in Factory Worker`s Life in poetry and novel published after Factory Worker`s Life.
In the Bang-ga, national consciousness and resistance against Japan is shown in the poetries in which a young man is a poetic narrator. However, the Antique, which was published two years after the Bang-ga,, is a collection of short poems that show no relation to history, ethnicity, and the age. In the Antique, he describes objects and experiments linguistic elaboration.
Thus, Hwang Soon-won `s early literary world starts from class interests and goes through nationalism, and results in the creation of poetries that complete linguistic elaboration.
In short, Hwang Soon-won`s perception of reality is shown in his early work, Factory Worker`s Life. And in the Bang-ga, he shows national consciousness. However, after his debut of novelist, through publishing the adverb of the street, he does not reveal the class and national consciousness. Instead, in his novels, the crane, the mask, the biography of my bamboo wife, he deals with reconciliation, harmony and the responsibility of intellectuals for others beyond the ideology and class.
