The paradigm of political science has generally considered humans as rational beings and based on that, the models and hypotheses of political science have been established. Political participation research has also followed this perspective. However, this study assumes that an individual’s rationality works in a bounded area and then interacts with emotions. In other words, this study attempts to take a step closer to the question of how politics occurs through emotions. It therefore focuses on the new aspects of collective action and explores the role of anger emotion in collective action.
In particular, this study examines individual anger toward Park Geun-hye and Choi Soon-sil Gate, as well as the process of turning such anger into collective anger. The former deals with the relationship between anger emotion and political participation, the latter adresses the formation of collective anger and its sharing, focusing on “collective action frame” and “online expressive communication.”
