The main purpose of this study is to understand college students` listening anxiety in the TETE class. For the goal of this study, 45 English major students were asked to complete a questionnaire and have interviews for further information. Class observation was also conducted and analysed with other data. It was found that listening anxiety in the TETE class is attributed to both the external learning environment (external attribution) and her/his lack of English listening self-confidence (internal attribution). Learners with strong external attribution asked the teacher to repeat and re-explain for clarification to get rid of listening anxiety. Learners with strong internal attribution, however, were mostly passive in the class and put forth less effort to study. It is suggested that TETE classes must be carried out with meaningful and authentic activities and materials which can help students pay attention to the class, increase interests and self-confidence, and lower anxiety.
