In Romans 5:12-17 Paul compares Adam with Christ. Setting Adam as the historical person, Paul ties all human beings with sin. It may function to suppress the self-assertions of gentile group and Jewish group in Roman Community. He also emphasizes Christ’s differentiation and superiority to integrate two groups. Paul insists that the Roman Community was influenced by Adam in the past, but now they are influenced by ‘Grace and Righteousness’ through Christ. Recovering the homogeneity, he tries to integrate the Roman Community with ‘Grace and Righteousness’ through Christ.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

바울은 로마서 5장 12-17절에서 아담과 그리스도의 비교를 시도하고 있다. 바울이 아담을 역사적 인물로 설정하여 인간을 아담으로부터 비롯된 죄의 영향력 아래 묶은 것은 로마공동체 내의 이방인 그룹과 유대인 그룹의 자기주장을 억제하는 기능을 했을 것으로 추정된다. 한편 아담과 그리스도를 비교하면서 그리스도의 차별성과 우월성을 부각시키는 것은 로마공동체 내의 두 그룹을 새롭게 통합하는 기능을 했을 것으로 추정된다. 바울은 로마 공동체가 과거에는 아담의 영향력 아래 있었던 자들이지만, 현재는 아담보다 우월한 그리스도 때문에 ‘은혜와 의’라는 새로운 영향력하래 있다고 주장한다. 바울은 그리스도로 인한 ‘은혜와 의’라는 새로운 공통분모를 제시함으로써 두 그룹의 동질성을 회복시키고 공동체 통합의 의지를 보여주고 있다.
