From the 1st of June to the 31th of August, 1979, studios on Metagonimus spp. were carried out on the intermediate hosts, that live in Seom-jin and Tam-jin rivers. Total 941 snails (Semisulcospira sp.) and total 76 aweetfishes (Plecoglossus altivelis) were collected from four areas in the surveyed rivers. All of the snails wers examined by crushing method to evaluate the infection rate with rediae and cercariae of Metagonimus spp. from digestive gland of the snails. All of the sweetfishes were examined for the presence of metacercariae of Metagonimus spp. T'hey were separately digested with artificial gastric juice for 24 huors in 36.5'C. The isolated metacercariac of Metagonimus spp. from each sweetfish were counted under microscope.
1. Cercariae of Metagonimus spp. from the Ⅰst intermediate host, Semisulcospira sp., in Seom-jin river was detected from 89 snails (21.5%,) out of 527 examined. In Tam-jin river was detected from 83 snails (157%) out of 527 examined. from 89 snails (21.5%) out of 527 examioed. In Tam-jin river was detected from 83 snails (15.7%) out of 527 examioed.
2. All of 33 plecoglossus altivelis which were caught from Seom-jin river were infected with metacercariae of Metagonimus spp. and the mean number per fish was 23,389 and per gram of fish muscle, 316.
3. All of 43 Plecoglossus altivelis which were caught from Tam-jin river were infected with metacercahae of Metagonimus spp. and the mean uumber per fish was 18,405 and per gram of fish muscle, 244.
