This paper investigates the politics of war museums by comparing the war memorials in South Korea and analyzing the change of the Imperial War Museum in London(IWM London) with special attention to nationalist narratives. While the Korean War Memorial still places a strong emphasis on nationalist narratives, IWM London has gradually shifted away from these narratives and toward a focus on personal experiences and sacrifices. Additionally, there are notable differences in how women are portrayed in conflict. By revealing the horrors of war and emphasizing the experiences of people who were obviously present in it by plainly exhibiting the persons who lived through it, war museums may need to improve their politics beyond nationalist themes.
