20세기 합주협주곡 엘가의 <서주와 알레그로>에 관한 연구 = A Study on the 20th century concerto grosso, ‘Introduction and Allegro’ by Elgar

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Concerto grosso is an instrumental music genre that flourished during Baroque period along with solo concerto. However, the genre was no longer favored by composers of Classical and Romantic era. Concerto grosso resuscitated in the 20th century due to Neo-classicism in 1920s. But as early as 1905, Elgar composed “Introduction and Allegro” for a string quartet and string orchestra. This study investigate 20th century concerto grosso work and composers, as well as its meaning and backgrounds. Also an analysis of Elgar’s work will provide an evidence that this work is a forerunner of 20th century concerto grosso with features and characteristics of Baroque and Classical instrumental music.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

바로크 시대의 합주 협주곡은 독주 협주곡과 더불어 중요한 장르로 자리매김 하였으나 이후 고전시대와 낭만시대를 거치면서 다수의 독주자를 위한 협주곡은 작곡가들이 선호하는 장르가 아니었다. 20세기 들어 합주 협주곡이 다시 등장하였는데 그 배경에는 1920년대에 본격화된 신고전주의 사조를 들 수 있다. 그렇지만 그보다 훨씬 이전인 1905년 엘가는 현악4중주와 현악 합주를 위한 서주와 알레그로를 완성하였다. 본 연구는에서는 먼저 20세기 합주 협주곡의 배경과 작곡가들을 살펴보고 엘가 작품의 분석을 통하여 그 특징을 연구하였으며, 결론적으로 이 작품이 신고전주의 사조와는 별개로 독자적으로 완성된 합주 협주곡이지만 바로크와 고전음악의 특징이 반영된 작품으로 그 선행주자로 생각할 수 있다고 보았다.
