한국 대중문화 속에 나타난 사후세계의 환상성 - 웹툰 <신과 함께 - 저승편>을 중심으로 - = The Fantastic Nature of Afterlife in Korean Popular Culture - On Webtoon <With God– Afterlife> -

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Contemporary human beings express their fears, anxieties and dissatisfaction with corrupt world through worlds they have not themselves experienced; they also establish words of fantasy filled with curiosity and desires. They also dream of new fantasy worlds as a means of overthrowing the values of status quo. The webtoon <With God – Afterlife> presents a fantasy narrative, rich with satire and critique; discontent about the present generation, desires, spirit of resistance against the existing regime are thought to have found an expression in its fantasy world. A critique of the reality of 21st Korea, such as the impossible housing ladder, death of 30-40s fathers from overwork, corruption in legal system and in politics, the so-called ‘sampo’ (for giving up three things; love, marriage, and children) generation is offered with an ideological representation of the desire to overthrow that suffocating social system. Regeneration and healing in fantasy narrative generate a comprehensive vision of the universe where everyone attains salvation. Given that such fantasy narrative offers consolation for the tired public and develops the value of webtoon as OSMU, the import of <With God – Afterlife> takes on its own weight for the culture industry.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

현대인들은 현실에서 겪는 공포와 불안, 부조리한 세계의 불만을 자신이 경험하지 못한 세계로 표출하고 호기심과 욕망으로 채워진 가상의 세계를 구축한다. 또한 기존사회의 가치체계에 대한 전복으로 새로운 환상적 세계를 꿈꾼다. 웹툰<신과 함께_저승편>의 환상서사 속 풍자와 비판정신은 현세대에 대한 불만 표출과 욕구, 체제에 대한 전복 정신이 환상성으로 치환되어 나타난다고 할 수 있다. 21세기 대한민국의 내집마련의 어려움, 3,40대 가장의 과로사, 법조계와 정치계의 비리, 3포세대 등의 현실 비판과 그 답답한 체제를 전복시키고 싶은 욕망의 이데올로기가 내포되어 있다. 또한 환상서사에 나타난 재생과 치유를 통해 결국에는 모두가 구원을 받는 통합적인 우주관을 생성한다. 이러한 환상서사를 통해 대중은 피곤한 삶을 위로받고 OSMU로서 웹툰의 가치를 발전시켰다는 점에서 <신과함께_저승편>의 문화산업적 의의가 있다고 할 수 있다.
