근대국어 유음화와 ‘ㄹ’ 비음화 연구 –<조선시대 언간 말뭉치>를 대상으로– = Research on the Lateralization and “ㄹ” Nasalization of Modern Korean - Study Based on the Corpus of Eongan in the Joseon Dynasty -

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to reveal the patterns of lateralization and “ㄹ” nasalization using a corpus of Eongan in the Joseon Dynasty. Lateralization and “ㄹ” nasalization can occur in environments wherein “ㄴ” and “ㄹ” are in sequence; thus, they can be considered phonological phenomena in a competitive relationship. This study contemplates the realization patterns of lateralization and “ㄹ” nasalization in modern Korean during the Joseon Dynasty by examining the corpus of Eongan from that period. Eongan is one of the most valuable resources among handwritten materials. The research data include 1,196 letters written over a period of about 300 years from the late 16th century to the early 20th century, including “Suncheon Kim’s Eongan,” “Hyeonpung Kwak’s Eongan,” “Euiseong Kim’s Eongan,” and “Eunjin Song’s Eongan.” This corpus was analyzed to trace the phonological changes in modern Korean from their inception to completion. The annotation work and interpretation of the annotated results of the Eongan corpus conducted herein will provide a rational basis for explaining the progression of phonological changes.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구의 목적은 조선시대 언간 말뭉치를 활용하여 유음화와 ‘ㄹ’ 비음화가 진행되는 양상을 밝히는 것이다. 유음화와 ‘ㄹ’ 비음화는 ‘ㄴ’과 ‘ㄹ’이 연쇄하는 환경에서 나타날 수 있기 때문에 경쟁적인 관계에 있는 음운 현상이라고 할 수 있다. 본 연구는 조선시대 언간을 대상으로 근대국어 시기의 ‘ㄹ’ 비음화와 유음화의 실현 양상을 살펴봄으로써 ‘ㄴ’과 ‘ㄹ’의 연쇄에서 나타나는 음운 현상을 통시적으로 고찰하였다.언간은 필사본 자료 중에서도 가장 활용 가치가 높은 자료라 할 수 있다. 연구 대상 자료는 ｢순천김씨언간｣, ｢현풍곽씨언간｣, ｢의성김씨 학봉 김성일가 언간｣, ｢은진송씨 송병필가 언간｣ 등 16세기 후반부터 20세기 초반까지 약 300년 이상의 기간 동안 작성된 언간 1,316건을 말뭉치로 구축한 것이며, 이 말뭉치를 분석하여 근대국어 시기의 음운 현상을 발생 단계에서부터 완성 단계까지 추적해보았다. 본 연구에서 진행한 언간 말뭉치의 주석 작업과 주석한 결과에 대한 해석은 음운변화의 진행 과정을 설명하기 위한 합리적 근거가 될 것이다.
