The purpose of this study is to verify the effect of job stress and safety behavior on airline employees and to verify the moderating effects of organizational communication. The research problems that we set up to achieve the objectives of the research are as follows. First, does job stress affect safety behavior? Second, does it show the moderating effect of organizational communication in the relationship between job stress and safety behavior? In order to conduct empirical verification of the research, it was based on the job (air navigation, cabin crew, non-destructive mechanic, ground job) affecting safety behavior. We conducted online and offline self-report questionnaires for 207 people working at Gimpo Airport and Incheon International Airport.
The results of the study are summarized as follows. First, among the three sub - variables of job stress, role stress had significant negative impact on safety behavior, and relationship stress had significant positive effect on safety behavior. Compensation stress did not have a significant effect on safety behavior. Second, organizational communication has a moderating effect on the effects of job stress on safety behaviors. It is worth the study to confirm the moderating effects in the absence of empirical studies of the moderating effects of organizational communication.
n order to reduce the role and relationship stress associated with the research results, interventions, including education and training on occupational stress, as well as education related to departmental tasks are needed in airlines. It seems to be one of the key roles of human resource development to continue to intervene in safety behavior behavior by reducing job stress. These interventions need to be operated by the entire airline to enhance organizational health and positively affect safety performance, which is job performance.
