영화 <고질라>의 창의적 역사와 테크놀로지에 대한 연구 = A Study on the Creative History and Technology of the movie <Godzilla>

국문 초록 (Abstract)

고질라 시리즈는 1954년 창안 이래 수십 년 동안 문화 분야와 기술 분야에서 큰 업적을 이뤘다.2014년부터 할리우드에서 고질라라는 이미지를 재창작하면서 이 괴수 이미지를 되살렸고, 일본 본토에서도 2016년 <신 고질라> 촬영이 진행돼 여러 가지 영예를 안았다.수십 년의 발전을 통해 고질라라는 고전영화는 문화콘텐츠와 특수효과기술 등에 적지 않은 변화를 가져왔다.이 영화들은 일본 특수 촬영 기술의 발전 흐름과 당대 할리우드 상업영화의 특수효과 기술의 발전 흐름을 어느 정도 대변하고 있다.고질라 시리즈는 일본의 수많은 특수 촬영 영화 중 가장 대표적인 작품으로 60여 년이 지나도 여전히 활기를 띤다.따라서 그 이면의 문화콘텐츠와 기술변화를 탐구함으로써 새로운 시대의 SF영화에 대한 힌트를 제공하는 것이 가치있는 과제가 되고 있다.
이 글은 고질라 시리즈의 대표적인 작품들을 통해 분석되며, 이러한 일련의 영화들이 발전하는 과정에서 발생하는 창의적 전환과 기술적 변화에 대한 탐색을 통해,이를 통해 고질라 시리즈의 전개 과정과 영상 표현, 기술 진보를 살펴본다.각 단계에서 나타나는 줄거리 변화와 기술 변화 등에 따라 시리즈가 얼마나 오래됐는지 다양한 각도에서 풀어낸다.
고질라 시리즈도 일본 전통 특수 촬영 영화의 대표적인 작품 중 하나로 괴수라는 이미지가 바뀔 때마다, 그리고 영화의 줄거리가 바뀔 때마다 시대적 발전과 밀접한 관련이 있다.고질라 시리즈의 성장과 쇠락도 일본 사회의 변화 과정을 어느 정도 보여준다.이런 일련의 영화에 대한 연구와 분석을 통해 고질라라는 이미지에 대한 기술 총화는 공상과학영화의 발전 규율과 피할 수 없는 문제를 더 잘 도출할 수 있을 것이다.

Since its creation in 1954, the Godzilla film series has evolved and changed over the decades, with great achievements in both the cultural and technical fields.Since 2014, Hollywood has begun to recreate the image of Godzilla, revitalizing the classic monster image.Japan itself also conducted the filming of <Shin Godzilla> in 2016 and received several accolades. After decades of development, Godzilla, a classic movie, has undergone considerable changes in terms of cultural connotation and special effects technology, and to a certain extent represents the development trend of Japanese special effects technology and the development trend of contemporary Hollywood commercial film special effects technology. Among the many Tokusatsu in Japan, the "Godzilla" series is the most representative, and the series has survived more than 50 years and is still alive. Thus, it becomes a valuable topic to explore the cultural connotations and technological changes behind them, so as to provide some inspiration for the new era of science fiction films.
This thesis analyzes some of the most representative works in the Godzilla film series and explores the creative shifts and technological changes that occurred during the development of the series, with the aim of exploring the development, visual expression and technological progress of the Godzilla film series. The series' enduring development process is dissected from multiple perspectives based on the plot changes and technical changes that occur in each stage of its films.
Godzilla series of multifaceted film development is also one of the most representative works in the Japanese traditional feature film, Godzilla the monster image of each transformation, as well as each change in the plot of the film is closely related to the development of the times. The growth and decline of the Godzilla film series also shows to some extent the process of change in Japanese society. Through the study and analysis of this series of films, the technical summary of the image of Godzilla can better access the development of science fiction films and the unavoidable problems.
