Candida성 감염에 대한 Econazole Nitrate 3일요법의 효과 = Clinical Evaluation of Three Day Therapy of Econazole Vaginal Suppository 150 mg in Vaginal Candidiasis

The purpose of this study was to assess the effectivenes of econazole nitrate vaginal suppository (150mg) 3 day therapy and to record any side effect. Econazole nitrate the antifungal agent, was investigated in the treatment of vaginal candidiasis in 50 patients who visited out-patients clinic, Department of Obsterics and Gynecology , Seoul National Unviersity Hospital and diagnosed as vaginal candidiasis by direct wet smear. This antifungal agent was administered by vaginal suppository in dose of 150mg per day for 3 days. Test of cure was perfomred by direct wet smear and culture with Nickerson`s media on the day of the last treatment and 1 week after the end of therapy. The results obtained are as follows. 1. cure rate in one week after termination of treatment was 96% 2. subjective symptoms such as vaginal burning, pruitus and discharge disappeared in 88.5%, 83.8%, 47.9%, respectively 3. NO side effect or hypersensitivity were noted . This investigation indicated that econzole nitrate vaginal suppository is an effective antifungal agent with advantage of short duration of treatment and no side effects.
