암브로시우스의 『죽음의 선함』(De bono mortis)에 나타난 죽음이해 = The Understanding of Death in the Ambrose’s Work De bono mortis

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문의 목적은 죽음의 선함을 논한 암브로시우스의 저서를 통해서 그의 죽음관을 분석하고 해석하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 먼저 4세기경에 쓰여진 저서가 어떻게 오늘까지 우리의 손 안에 들어오게 되었는지, 그리고 『죽음의 선함』이라는 책을 쓸 당시의 상황은 어떠했는지, 책의 구성과 내용은 어떠했는지를 살펴보고자 한다. 그리고 본론으로 들어가서 암브로시우스가 어떠한 관점과 방식으로 죽음의 선함을 논했는지를 찾아 분석하고, 결론적으로 암브로시우스의 죽음의 진정한 의미를 통해 오늘날 상황을 해석하는데 적용하고자 한다. 암브로시우스는 죽음을 세 가지 유형, 즉 죄로 인한 대가인 죽음, 신비적 영적인 죽음, 자연적 죽음으로 나누면서 죽음은 악이 아니라, 선하다는 이유를 설명했다: 죽음이 선한 이유는 1) 고통스러운 인생의 마침이기에, 2) 그래서 쉼에 들어가기에, 3) 죽음은 끝이 아닌 잠이고 깨어남(부활)의 소망이 있기에, 4) 죽어가는 사람들을 도울 수 있는 복을 누릴 수 있기 때문이다. 우리 영혼의 상태는 ‘죽음의 선함’을 현재적으로 그리고 미래적으로 누림에 있어 매우 중요하며, 암브로시우스는 그리스도의 모범과 사도 바울의 선포(고전15:31) 안에서 우리의 영혼을 영원함과 완전함으로 나아가게 하자고 권면한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This purpose of this paper ist to analyze and interpret Ambrose's view of death in the writings of Ambrose, who discussed the goodness of death. For this, first, I will examine how did the writings of the 4th century come into our hands to this day, what was the situation at the time of writing the book De bono mortis, and what was the structure and contents of the book. Then, going into the main body, I will try to find and analyze what kind of Ambrose’s viewpoint about Death and how Ambrose discussed the goodness of death, and in conclusion, apply the true meaning of Ambrose's death to interpret the present situation.
Ambrose explained why death is good, not evil, by dividing the concept of death into three types: death due to sin, mystical spiritual death, and natural death. Why Death is good, This is because 1) it is the end of a painful life, 2) it ist the beginning of rest, 3) it ist not the end, but a sleep, and theres es a hope of awakening(resurrection), 4) we can enjoy the blessing of helping people who are dying. The state of our souls is very important in our present and future enjoyment of the 'goodness of death', and Ambrose exhorts us to advance our souls to eternity and perfection in the example of Christ and the proclamation of the Apostle Paul(1 Cor.15:31).
