인문사회학편 : 정규 영어읽기 수업에서 다독의 활용이 TOEIC 읽기 성적 향상에 미치는 영향 = Humanities and Social Science : The Impact of Extensive Reading in a Formal English Reading Class on the Improvement of TOEIC Reading Scores

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 영어읽기 교육 방법 중의 하나인 다독(extensive reading)이 영어학습자들의 TOEIC 읽기 성적 양상에 미치는 영향용 조A냐F는 것이다 이와 같은 연구목적을 위해서 본 연구에 서는 한 학기 동안 공군사관학교 1학년 18명의 학생들을 대상으로 정규 영어읽기 수업에서 다독을 활용한 강의가 진행되었다. 다독이 TOEIC 읽기 성적 향상에 효과적인지를 확인하기 위해서 야기 초와 안에 두 번의 TOEIC 읽기 영역 시험이 실시되었다. 온 연구의 결과는 적은 양의 다독만으로 는 TOEIC 읽기 성적 향상에 도움이 되지 못함을 보여준다. 학기 초와 말의 TOEIC 읽기 성적으로 분석한 대용표본 t-tesl의 결과는 평균의 차이에 대한 유의확률이 0.292호 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보여주지 못했다. 학생들을 대상으로 한 의견조사 결과는 다독의 양이 적었던 이유가 영어 책을 읽을 수 있는 충분한 시간의 부족과 낮은 동기부여 때문임을 나타낸다. 논문의 결론에는 추후 연 구를 위한 제안사항이 제시되었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of the current study is to investigate the impact of an extensive reading approach in the field of leaching of English reading on the improvement of TOEle reading scores. To this end, the present study utilized an extensive reading method with 18 first grade students of Air Force Academy in a formal English reading class for one academic semester. Two sample test of TOEIC reading section were implemented both before and after the semester. The results of the study indicate that the small amount of eXlensh``e reading done bythe students had no great impact on the improvement of TOEIC reading scores. The analysis of paired [-test with the scores of two tests shows that the difference between two means was not statistically significant. Based on the opinions of the students. the reason, for the small amount of Extensive reading in the study were inferred from the insufficient time for reading and the low motivation to read English books. Some suggestions for further studies are discussed.
