청마 유치환 시에서 자연의 원천과 생명 의식의 형성 - 일본 유학 체험과 외광파의 사생의 영향을 중심으로 -

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 글의 목적은 청마 유치환 시에 나타나는 자연의 원천을 추적하고 그의 생명 의식이 형성되어가는 과정을 고찰하는 데 있다. 그간 유치환의 일본 유학 체험에 관해서는 주로 아나키즘의 수용이라는 측면에 국한됨에 따라 그 이외의 사상이나 예술 체험에 관한 논의는 거의 이루어지지 못했다. 이런 상황에서 그의 일본 유학 체험 중 도쿠토미 로카를 경유한 외광파의 사생의 접촉은 그의 초기 시에서 자연을 형상화하는 원리와 방식에 적잖은 영향을 끼친 것으로 판단된다. 보다 구체적으로, 유치환은 로카를 경유하여 빛과 명암에 따라 생동하는 자연 풍경을 그리고자 했던 카미유 코로의 회화 기법을 수용할 수 있었다. 이를 통해 로카와 유치환은 태양을 생명력의 원천으로 하여 끊임없이 유동하는 자연을 포착하면서도, 그러한 자연의 질서를 파괴하는 문명의 논리에 대해 비판적인 자세를 내비치고 있다. 바로 이 지점에서 우리는 유치환의 시에서 도저하게 나타나는 생명 의식의 한 계기를 엿볼 수 있다. 하지만 로카의 경우 결국 인간과 자연의 조화를 통해 우주 만물의 전체성을 회복하는 데 초점을 맞추고자 했다면, 유치환의 경우 그러한 전체성 속에서 개별적인 존재의 단독성을 표방하려는 데 초점을 맞추고 있다. 이 글은 유치환 시에 나타나는 자연의 원천에 관해 새로운 관점을 제공할 뿐 아니라 그의 생명 의식이 가로놓인 동아시아적 위상을 탐색하고 있다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this article is to trace the source of nature in Cheongma Yu Chi-hwans poetry and examine the process by which his consciousness of life is formed. Regarding the experience of studying abroad in Japan, which has been the nourishment of Yu Chi-hwans literature, it has been mainly limited to the aspect of accepting anarchism, and there has been little discussion of other ideas or artistic experiences. In this situation, during his study abroad experience in Japan, his contact with the sketch of the pleinairisme via Tokutomi Roka is judged to have had a significant influence on the principles and methods of embodying nature in his early poems, beyond the simple similarity of materials. More specifically, Yu Chi-hwan, via Tokutomi Roka, was able to adopt the painting techniques of Camille Corot, who sought to draw vibrant natural landscapes through light and shade. Through this, Tokutomi Roka and Yu Chi-hwan capture the ever-changing nature with the sun as the source of vitality, while also expressing a critical attitude toward the logic of civilization that destroys the order of nature. However, while Tokutomi Roka ultimately wanted to focus on restoring the wholeness of all things in the universe through harmony between humans and nature, Yu Chi-hwans focus was on expressing the uniqueness of individual beings within such totality. This article is significant in that it not only provides a new perspective on the source of nature that appears in Yu Chi-hwans poetry, but also explores the East Asian status of his life consciousness.
