Since electronically controlled engines & electric propulsion ships were introduced, the importance of UPS(Uninterruptible Power Supply) on emergency power supply devices which use battery has been emphasized recently. The bidirectional converter is a crucial component on emergency power supply device.
In this paper, a new DC-DC bidirectional converter is presented. The conversion ratio of the proposed converter is one fourth of the conventional buck converter in step-down mode and four times higher than conventional boost converter in step up mode.
The voltage stress of switches in the proposed converter is one quarter of high side voltage before and after turning on /off switches.
Moreover, due to charge balance of its blocking capacitors, the proposed converter can distribute equal currents between two interleaved modules without using any extra current-sharing control method.
The features, operating principles, and theoretical analysis of the proposed bidirectional converter are presented. By using PSIM software, the theoretical analysis validation of a 50/400V, 480W converter has been verified.
