벽 허물기 시대, 로컬 기반 교양교육연구소의 역할과 전망 ―이론적 모색을 중심으로― = In an Era of Breaking Down Walls, the Role and Prospects of Local-based Liberal Arts Education Research Institutes

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 글은 벽 허물기를 화두로 학생의 전공 선택권 확대나 산업체와 대학의 연계를 강화하는 혁신 전략이 요청되는 상황에서 수도권이 아닌 비수도권 소속 대학의 교양교육이 어떤 가치관과 체계를 지녀야 할 것인가에 대한 고민에서 시작되었다. 지역혁신중심 대학지원체계(RISE), 글로컬대학 사업을 비롯하여 한국교양기초교육원에서 제시한 선도모델 내지 표준모델을 개별 대학에 적용하기 위해서는 교양교육연구소의 역할이 그 어느 때보다 중요하다. 대학의 교양교육연구소는 근대적 패러다임이나 이분법적 사고에 바탕한 보편성을 넘어 로컬의 특성을 반영하고 학습자와 지역민 등을 포괄하는 로컬의 거주자들과 소통하며 교양교육 체계를 구축해가야 한다.
이를 위해 교양교육연구소는 벽이 아니라 허물기라는 수행적 선언을 실천해야 하며, 헤르메스적 인식에 바탕을 둔 번역의 역할을 담당하는 입체적 플랫폼으로서 제 몫을 실천해가야 한다. 지식의 체계와 근대적 사유 체계를 흔들고 폭로하는 행위를 이어가는 일은 방황과 헤맴으로써 로컬의 행로를 그려가는 것이기에 학문의 보편적 구조를 넘어설 수 있는 기반이 되는 로컬에서 상생의 가치와 동반 성장의 메시지를 구축해가야 할 것이다. P대학교 주시경교양교육 연구소의 사례에서 알 수 있듯이 교양교육연구소는 중심을 향한 욕망에서 벗어나 구체적 로컬의 장소를 따라가며 성장하는 지적 여정의 행로를 펼쳐갈 수 있는 나침반의 역할을 해야 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study focuses on breaking down walls and examines what values and systems liberal arts education at universities in non-metropolitan areas should have in a situation where innovative strategies are needed to expand students’ major options or strengthen linkages between industry and universities. It started with concerns. The role of the Liberal Education Research Institute is more important than ever to apply the leading or standard model presented by the Korea Institute for Liberal Arts and Basic Education, including the Regional Innovation Centered University Support System (RISE) and the Glocal University Project, to individual universities. The university’s liberal arts education research center must reflect local characteristics beyond universality based on modern paradigms or dichotomous thinking and build a liberal education system by communicating with residents, including learners and local residents. Accordingly, the Institute for Liberal Arts Education must put into practice the performative declaration of tearing down, not walls, and carry out its role as a multifaceted platform that plays the role of translation based on Hermetic cognition. Continuing the act of shaking and exposing the system of knowledge and modern thinking is drawing local wayfaring through wandering and wandering. Therefore, we need to build a message of coexistence value and shared growth locally, which will serve as a foundation for going beyond the universal structure of academics. As seen in the case of Pai Chai University’s Jusigyeong Liberal Education Research Institute, the liberal arts education research institute must act as a compass that can move forward on a growing intellectual journey by moving away from the desire for the center and following specific local places.
