China begins to participate in the UN PKO (Peace-keeping Operations) from early 1990s, took part in the mission 25 times until December 20l0. Compared with the history of the UN PKO, China`s history of participation is relanvely short and mainly dispatch non-combat troops with small scales. So a study on the China`s participate in the UN PKO is not active discussion like Europe and other countries. But after 2000s, according to expand China`s participation in the UN PKO and foreign influence, also increased the concerning about China`s foreign policies and operations. Therefore a study on the China`s participation in the UN PKO is at the base of China`s foreign policies and strategies. The characteristics of China`s participation in the UN PKO can be summarized as the follows. First, China has sent a large number of peacekeeper since 2002. Chinese throat, which raised the late 1990s, became a key factor to increase China`s foreign operations. Second, China emphasize traditional peace-keeping rule. China opposed to non-traditional operations, only recognize the United Nations-led peace-keeping operations. The reason why China has demanding separation of minorities and Taiwan factors. Third, China`s peace-keeper focused on the Africa missions. It has reviewed these characteristics from the point of view of national interests, China`s participation in the UN PKO is subject to raising international image. An improved international profile is of high value for China in its pursuit of economic benefits. Chinese staff will be involved in UN PKO in the future, strengthening the UN`s ability to handle conflicts.
