There are ‘the traitorous subject of Kyushu area(九州亂臣)’, ‘the stubborn people of western seaside area(西?海道の頑民)’ and ‘the people who fled to escape arrest by the Muromachi Bakuhu(逋逃)’ that are the terminologies concerning to the truth of Waegu of late Koryo dynasty.
Above all, ‘the traitorous subject of Kyushu area(九州亂臣)’ and ‘the people who fled to escape arrest(逋逃)’ have a political significance.
These two terminologies indicated the troops of Seiseifu(征西府) which had invaded to the Korean Peninsula for plundering the provisions before the beginning of the battle of Chihu(千布)ㆍNinauchi(?打) in the suburb of Saga(佐賀) city Kyushu in 13th day January 1377 year.
In other words, it was the truth of Waegu of late Koryo(高麗) dynasty that ‘the traitorous subject of Kyushu area’ had fled from Kyusyu mainland to the islands of Tsushima(對馬) and Iki(壹岐), and they had made it there own base to attack Korean peninsula.
The mechanism of invasion of Waegu in early Chosun dynasty had not changed.
As Syogun(將軍) Ashikaga yoshimitsu(足利義滿) dismissed the Kyusyu tandai(九州探題) Imakawa Ryousyun(今川了俊) in the year of 1395 and dispatched new one Shibukawa Mitsuyori(澁川滿賴), the rebellion come to the fore again. At the same time, the Waegu which had kept in the lull in the invasion, start to reborn.
About these Waegu, 『The History of Koryo(高麗史)』 and the diplomatic documents between China(明) and Japan described ‘the people who fled to escape arrest by us(= Muromachi Bakuhu, 逋逃)’. And this was the official terminology(公式用語) of Muromachi Bakuhu(室町幕府). Koryo and Chosun dynasty and Ming dynasty called the Japanese pirates ‘Waegu’, which Muromachi Bakuhu explained the people who fled to escape arrest, so-called ‘podo(逋逃)’.
And the ‘podo(逋逃)’ made base in two islands off the coast of Kyusyu, Tsushima(對馬) and Iki(壹岐).
The Waegu from late Koryo to early Chosun dynasty has a two-sideness, which are the military force group taken on a political character and the pirates, it means ‘corsair’ of western history.
Finally, the mechanism of the invasion of Waegu from late Koryo to early Chosun dynasty. which is ‘firstly the battle occurred in kyusyu mainland’ - secondly the traitorous subject were defeated - thirdly they fled to the islands of Tsushima and Iki - fourthly they invade Korea and China as a pirates(Waegu), has not changed.
