Youths appropriate participation in sports can create sound thought and rightful living attitude by making them experience physical, mental and social experiences. Accordingly, the current study aims to analyze and examine a law-abiding spirit, cooperative spirit, independence and sociality, which are subordinate factors of practice level and development of sociality of teenager Kumdo trainees in order to investigate the relationship between Kumdo practice of Youths and development of sociality.
For the research purpose, a survey created based on previous studies was conducted with 248 middle school students practicing Kumdo in private Kumdo schools in C province, and the data was analyzed using one-way ANOVA.
The following are the results about Kumdo practice of Youths and development of sociality obtained from this research method.
First of all, for the difference between Kumdo practice experience and development of sociality, a law-abiding spirit, cooperative spirit and independence show difference by group while there was no meaningful difference in sociality. In a law-abiding spirit, trainees with more than 3-year experience showed higher marks than trainees with less than 4-year experience, while trainees with more than 4-year experience showed higher cooperative spirit than those with less than 2-year experience. In addition, trainees with more than 3-year experience presented more independence than those with 1 or 2 years experience. That is, the results illustrated that the longer they practice Kumdo, the more positive effect they obtain.
Secondly, with regard to the difference between Kumdo practice of teenagers and development of sociality, a law-abiding spirit, independence and sociality factors presented difference by group, while there was no meaningful difference in cooperative spirit factor. In detail, a group that practices Kumdo daily showed the highest mark in a law-abiding spirit, and groups that practice more than 4 times a week presented high independence and sociality level. That is, it was observed that the more frequently they practice Kumdo, the more positive result they get.
