The purpose of this study was to examine the actual state, the level of satisfaction, and perception of images of people participating in the Hung-taryung dance exercise, and to analyze the effect of the level of satisfaction in participating the Hung-taryung dance exercise on the self-images. A total of 230 public workers participating in the Hung-taryung dance exercise filled out the questionnaire, and data from 217 participants were used in the data analyses. Results of the study were as the following:
1. While 37.8% of the subjects has been participating in the Hung-taryung dance exercise more than two years, 25.3%, 24.9%, and 12% have been participating in the activity less than a year, less than two years, and less than six months, respectively. The frequency of participation was in the order of more than once a month(80.2%), more than twice a month(13.4%), more than once a week(6%), and everyday(0.5%). While 67.7% of the subjects reported that the intensity of activity was appropriate, 18%, 11.1%, and 3.2% of them perceived the intensity of activity as a little bit low, a little bit high, and too low, respectively.
2. While 52.5% of participants perceived the activity as interesting, 38.2%, 6.9%, and 2.3% perceived it as not interesting, entirely not interesting, and very interesting, respectively. In terms of required improvements to enhance their participation, 53% selected interests and motivation, while 22.1%, 17.5%, and 3.7% selected changes in movements, facility and location, and the specialty of leaders, respectively.
3. In terms of the intention to recommend the Hung-taryung dance exercise, 59%, 32.7%, 4.6%, and 3.7% of participants responded as recommended, not recommended, not recommended at all, and highly recommended, respectively. The recommended place of activity was in the order of culture center(28.1%), public facility for physical activity(20.7%), center for the elderly(19.4%), elemantary school(15.2%), social welfare center(12%), and others(4.6%). The recommended way of advertisement was in the order of using local broadcasting(59.4%), billboard and posters(18%), placards(7.4%), local newspaper(5.5%), others (5.5%), and handbills(4.1%).
4. The level of satisfaction in participating the Hung-taryung dance exercise was not different between gender, and higher at the twenties than thirties, forties, and fifties. The level of social satisfaction increased with increasing level of education. The level of physical and social satisfactions was higher in participants with a monthly income of less than \3,000,000 than those with over \3,000,000.
5. The evaluative image was higher in female participants than male. The psychological and behavioral images were higher at the twenties than thirties, forties, and fifties. The negative image increased with decreasing level of education, and the behavioral image was higher in participants with a monthly income of over \4,000,000 than those with less than \4,000,000.
6. The level of social, environmental, and psychological satisfaction of participants in the Hung-taryung dance exercise had a positive effect on the psychological image.
7. The level of physical, social, environmental, and psychological satisfaction of participants in the Hung-taryung dance exercise had a positive effect on the behavioral image.
8. The level of environmental and psychological satisfaction of participants in the Hung-taryung dance exercise had a positive effect on the evaluative image.
9. The level of physical and psychological satisfaction of participants in the Hung-taryung dance exercise had a negative effect on the negative image.
