The purpose of this study is to suggest some directions for developing vocational education at the Polytec Information School in Korea by analyzing the current situation of various aspects of vocational education system. Related previous studies, public statistics and datas were analyzed in order to develop the current vocational education and to figure out the trends of the environment of vocational education. The questionnaires were administerd to 1,000 students, 500 their parents and 500 teachers from 100 Academic High Schools and 1 Polytec Information School. In order to provide effective vocational education which can help students to prepare diverse occupations in the rapidly changing indurstrial society, it is possible to suggest the directions for improving vocational education at the Polytec Information School as follows based on the results of this study. (1) The strategies for improving vocational education at the Polytec Information School should be developed from the perspective of the whole system of vocational education in high school level. (2) In order to attract students with high academic ability to vocational institutions, it is desirable to develop the flexible college entrance system which can provide advantages to graduates of vocational institutions, such as providing extra scores to those with qualification or work experience.
