<AbsText> ON A MAP OF NEW ZEALAND, halfway down the cast coast of the South Island, may be seen Kaikoura, marked large, and a mile inland over the sand-hills is the Swyncombe Lake. Newcomers are sometimes informed that it is so named from the fact that 134 pigs were once shot in a drive ending at the valley beyond the water, but really it was called by the first owner after his own home in Devon. Roughly speaking, tho lake is three miles long by a single mile across; it is bordered by zaupo-bulrush-swamp, and is the home of a multitude of ducks and black swans. </AbsText>
