This study was examined carefully the characteristics on the foraging activities of honeybee, Apis mellifera as pollinator on the watermelon flowers (Citrullus vulgaris Schrad) and compared them with the effect of the pollination by A. mellifera and the artificial pollination in the watermelon houses from 14 May to 24 May 2001 in Non-san City. The number of out-going bees and in-coming bees in relation to the blooming of watermelon flowers was the best numerous on 8: 30 and 11: 30 a.m.. respectively. The number of foraging bees was continuously increased rapidly when the number of watermelon flowers as the day goes on was blossomed. Hence, the increase on the number of the foraging activities of honeybee was positively correlated with the increase on the number of the watermelon flowers. In the comparison of the quality of the watermelon produced by A. mellifera and the artificial pollination, the weight and the length a fruit produced by A. mellifera were increased 6% and 5% than those of the artificial pollination, so the effect on the foraging activities of honeybee were appeared obviously.
