조선조 유학자들의 ‘狂狷觀’에 관한 연구 = A Study on the Characters who held extreme passion and extreme self-preservation among the Confucian scholars of the Joseon Dynasty

국문 초록 (Abstract)

조선조 유학자들의 광견관은 중국 유학자들의 광견관과 차이가 있다. 중국은 程朱理學은 물론 陽明學 등과 같이 다양한 사유가 존재할 수 있는 토양이 있었지만, 조선조는 溪谷 張維가 지적한 바와 같이 주자학 존숭이라는 매우 경직된 학술경향에서 이해된 광견관이 나타난다. 조선조 유학자들이 발언한 ‘광’에 대한 이해는 세가지 관점은 분석할 수 있다. 첫째, 자기가 스스로 ‘광’이라고 할 때의 ‘광’이 있다 이런 ‘광’은 문제가 되지 않는다. 타인을 보고 ‘광’이라 할 때는 두가지 견해가 있다. 하나는 긍정적인 견해고, 다른 하나는 부정적인 견해다. 후자의 경우에는 주로 유가가 제시한 질서와 법도를 무시하면서 사회적으로 문제를 야기 시킬 수 있는 이른바 ‘形狂’의 경우에 해당한다. 그런데 조선조에서는 행동으로 광태를 보인 이른바 ‘형광’에 해당하는 경우는 그리 많지 않았다. 그 원인의 하나로, 조선이 중국에 비해 땅도 작고, 인물도 적다는 점을 들 수 있지만, 철학적으로 보면 정주이학이 조선조 역사에서 강력한 힘을 발휘한 점을 들 수 있다. 견자의 경우는 정주이학에 薰陶된 조선조의 유학자들의 경우 탈속적인 삶을 지향하면서 지조와 절개를 지닌 견자를 더 높이는 경향도 있는데, 이런 점은 중국과 다른 이해에 속한다고 할 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Three perspectives can be analyzed for the understanding of the extreme passion made by Korean Confucian scholars who discussed the above. First, there is a extreme passion when you call yourself extreme passion. This extreme passion doesn t matter. There are two views when looking at others and calling them extreme passion . One is positive, the other is negative. The latter is mainly the case of so-called crazy behavior that can cause social problems while ignoring the order and laws presented by Confucius. In Joseon Dynasty, however, there were not many cases in which a maniac appeared through action. And in the case of Confucian scholars in the Joseon Dynasty, who are leaning toward Confucius studies, they tend to further enhance the a man of extreme self-preservation that has kept what they deemed right to the end while pursuing life out of the world. This can be said to belong to a different understanding from China.
