다문화가정 유아를 위한 이야기 구성능력 신장 방안 연구 : 그림책 스토리텔링을 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이야기 구성능력은 유아가 적절한 어휘를 선택하고 계열화하여 자신의 생각과 느낌을 이야기로 산출하게 하는 능력으로 유아의 확산적 사고 과정을 이야기로 의미화 시킬 수 있는 능동적인 능력이다. 이 이야기 구성능력을 지닐수록 유아는 자신의 생각과 느낌을 적절하게 조직하고 구성하여 전달하는 언어 발달의 신장을 기대할 수 있다. 그뿐만 아니라 이야기를 감상하고 창조해 내는 문학적 사고를 갖게 되고, 자신의 생각을 확장하여 표현하면서 창의적 사고와 정서적 발달을 기대할 수 있게 된다. 따라서 이야기 구성능력은 언어 발달의 지체 현상으로 학업 및 교우관계에 어려움을 겪고 있고 정서적 혼란을 느끼고 있는 다문화가정 유아에게 필요한 능력으로, 그 교육 방안에 대한 논의가 요구되어지고 있는 상황이다.
이러한 필요성을 인지하여 본 연구는 그림책 스토리텔링을 통하여 다문화가정 유아의 이야기 구성능력 향상에 도움을 주고자 이를 위한 세부적인 교육 방안을 모색하는 데 그 목적을 두었다. 이야기 구성능력의 신장에 긍정적인 영향을 끼치는 전략들을 알아보고 교육 내용을 선정하여 교육 방안을 제시하였다.
먼저 1장에서는 연구의 필요성과 목적을 밝히고, 선행연구를 검토하여 다문화가정 유아를 대상으로 한 한국어 교육과 스토리텔링을 활용한 한국어 교육을 살펴보았다.
2장에서는 다문화가정 유아의 개념을 알아보고, 그들이 어떤 언어적 특성을 보이고 있는지 앞선 연구들을 중심으로 검토하였다. 그리고 이야기 구성능력에 대해서 알아보며, 그 의미를 살펴보고 유아의 이야기 구성능력의 발달 양상 및 영향을 미치는 변수들을 확인하였다. 또한 그림책과 스토리텔링의 개념과 교육적 효과를 알아보고, 이를 통합하였을 때 미치는 긍정적 영향력을 확인할 수 있었다.
3장에서는 이야기 구성능력의 신장을 위한 방안을 모색하였다. 먼저 학습 제재로 백희나 그림책을 선정하였고 그 이유를 밝혔다. 다음으로 이야기 구성능력 신장 전략을 크게 이야기 다시 말하기와 이야기 꾸며 말하기의 두 가지로 제시하였다. 먼저 이야기 다시 말하기는 그림책 스토리텔링 활동으로 그림책 이야기를 들은 후 그 내용을 회상하여 다시 말해보는 것으로, 문학의 필수 요소인 사건, 등장인물, 배경에 집중하여 이야기를 다시 말해볼 수 있도록 하위전략을 설정하여 제시하였다. 다음 이야기 꾸며 말하기는 그림책 스토리텔링 활동으로 그림책의 내용을 변형하여 새롭게 이야기를 창출하는 것으로, 기존 그림책의 내용을 변형하여 이야기를 꾸미는 전략과 다른 내용을 삽입하여 이야기를 새롭게 꾸미는 전략으로 세분화하여 제시하였다.
4장에서는 앞의 논의들을 바탕으로 이야기 구성능력을 향상시킬 수 있는 실제적인 교육을 설계해 보았다. 교수·학습 목표와 모형을 설정하고, 각각의 백희나 그림책에 해당하는 교육내용을 구상하였다. 또한 하나의 그림책을 선정하여 이야기 다시 말하기 전략과 이야기 꾸며 말하기 전략을 중심으로 하는 교수·학습 과정안을 6차시에 걸쳐 제시하였다.
마지막으로 5장에서는 1장부터 4장까지 본 연구 내용을 요약하였고 연구의 한계점을 들며 결과를 정리하였다.
다문화가정 학생의 수는 꾸준히 증가 추세를 보이고 있고, 특히 그 중 유아의 비율이 가장 높은 것으로 보아, 다문화가정 유아의 언어 능력 신장을 위한 연구들이 지속적으로 요구되어질 것이다. 앞으로 본 연구를 기반으로 하여 그들을 위한 유의미한 연구들이 이어져 다문화가정의 학생들도 한국 사회에서 함께 융합하며 성장할 수 있는 다양한 방안들이 체계를 잡아가길 기대한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Story construction ability is the ability of infants to select appropriate vocabularies and sequence them, express their thoughts and feelings in a story, and shape their thought process into stories. It is expected that young children with the story construction abilities are able to have the development of language by properly organizing their thoughts and concisely presenting their ideas. Not only that, but they are also expected to possess literary thinking to appreciate and create stories, and have creative thinking and emotional development while expanding and expressing their thoughts. Therefore, story construction abilities are necessary for young children from multi-cultural families who experience difficulties in their studies and
friendships due to the delay in language development. Therefore, teaching methods related to this issue need to be discussed.
Recognizing the need, this study aims to explore detailed storytelling teaching methods to improve children's story construction abilities from multi-cultural families. After selecting strategies that have a positive impact on the development of story construction ability, the content of the education is selected and the education plan is presented.
First, Chapter 1 clarifies the necessity and purpose of the research, and the preceding studies on Korean language education for young children from multi-cultural families and storytelling activities in Korean language education are examined.
Chapter 2 describes the concept of children from multi-cultural families and the linguistic characteristics of those children, and the meaning of story composition ability. In addition, the variables that influence the development pattern and story composition ability of infants are analyzed. Lastly, the concept and educational effects of picture books with storytelling are examined, and the positive effects of integrating them into follow-up activities are identified.
In Chapter 3, several methods to develop story construction ability are presented. First, Baek Hee-na's picture books are used as a main teaching material and the reason for this decision is revealed. Next, two strategies for improving story construction ability are presented: “story retelling” and “story making”. Story retelling refers to listening to a picture book story, recalling the story, and reuttering it. Sub-strategies are used to allow the stories to be recounted by focusing on the essential elements of literature such as events, characters, and backgrounds. Story making refers to creating new stories by transforming the content of the original picture books. The strategy is subdivided into two categories: creating a new story by changing some parts of the original book, or creating a new story by inserting different content into the original story.
In Chapter 4, practical teaching methods are designed to improve story-construction ability based on the above discussions. The teaching goals and models are set and each content is related to Baek Hee-na's picture books. It is followed by two main strategies in Chapter 3 that are applied to one of the main picture books. They are the basis of the teaching/learning process plan presented in six sessions.
Finally, Chapter 5 summarizes the contents of this research from Chapters 1 to 4, clarifies the limitations of the research, and organizes the results. Because of the increasing number of children from multi-cultural families with an especially large portion of infants – research on the improvement of the story construction ability of multi-cultural children are required. Lastly, the writer suggests that meaningful research on a variety of measures should be developed in order for them to integrate better into Korean society.
