This study analyzes required course activities carried out by pre-service elementary teachers enrolled in the course titled ``Man and Environment`` while fulfilling ``Community-based Environmental Project``. Place-based education implements school activities in ways that truly conjoin school with community and provides students further opportunities for democratic participation and leadership. Place-based environmental education aims students to develop environmental sensibility through their experiences at a particular place and to find meaningful solutions for environmental issues tied with the place by actively engaging in the issues. By completing the environmental conservation and rehabilitation project, pre-service elementary teachers visit the place, learn sense of place by providing diverse and dynamic experiences in the context of place, engage in the environmental issues, and take action to put their solution into practice. It is a meaningful results of place-based environmental education that pre-service elementary teachers consider the scale of the place with the environmental issues and its relationship with surrounding places when finding practical solutions to the issues.
