<동선기(洞仙記)>의 장르적 성격 = The Genre of Tongson Ki(洞仙記)

국문 초록 (Abstract)

재자가인소설에는 元明의 中篇 才子佳人小說과 淸代의 長篇 才子佳人小說의 두 종류가 있다. 魯迅 이래 기왕의 연구자들은 이 중 淸代의 長篇 才子佳人小說만을 재자가인소설로 다뤄왔고, 元明의 中篇 才子佳人小說은 전기소설의 한 변종으로 취급해 왔다. 그러나 이 元明의 中篇 才子佳人小說은 기본적으로 전기소설과 구별되는 장르이다. 中篇 才子佳人小說의 嚆矢는 元代의 작품 <嬌紅記>이다. <嬌紅記>는 傳奇小說의 문학적 전통과 民間의 이야기 文學의 波瀾萬丈한 흥미 위주의 敍事 방식을 결합하여 傳奇小說과는 전혀 다른 차원에서 通俗的인 남녀간의 사랑을 그림으로써 이후 才子佳人小說의 모범이 되었다. 淸代 장편 才子佳人小說은 바로 이 <嬌紅記> 이래의 중편 재자가인소설의 문학적 전통 아래에서 출현한 것이다. <洞仙記>는 그 동안 傳奇小說의 관점에서 주로 분석되어 왔다. 그러나 <洞仙記>는 傳奇小說의 관점으로는 해명하기 곤란한 작품이다. <동선기>에는 士階層의 文人的 취향과 民間의 통속적 취향이 동시에 나타나 있다. 이 중 문인적 취향은 전기소설의 전통과 관련하여 일정하게 이해될 수 있다. 그러나 통속적 취향은 전기소설의 관점으로는 해명하기 곤란하다. 이 통속적 취향은 바로 民間의 이야기 문학의 전통에서 유래한 것이기 때문이다. 중편 재자가인소설은 高雅한 전기소설의 전통과 통속적인 이야기 문학의 전통을 결합하여 출현한 역사적 장르종이다. <동선기>는 바로 이 중편 재자가인소설의 장르 규범을 따라 창작된 작품이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

There exist different views regarding the genre of Tongson ki. Majority of the scholars confirm Tongson ki as a chon'gi sosol(傳奇小說), while some others argues that Tongson ki has cast off the shell of chon'gi (傳奇) style. My research stands on the view that Tongson ki belongs to the category of medium-length Scholar-Beauty Romance (才子佳人小說). This is a new viewpoint no scholar ever presented. Although it cannot be disregarded that in its birth Scholar-Beauty Romance has some connection to chon'gi sosol, basically these two are entirely different literary genres. Lao Shin (魯迅) used the term Scholar-Beauty Romance for the first time. It is questionable whether Tongson ki can be called a Scholar-Beauty Romance defined by Lao Shin, for the term originally refers the stories in Qing dynasties. Nevertheless, I believe that we can suggest a new concept of Scholar-Beauty Romance that includes Tongson ki, by expending the scope of Scholar-Beauty Romance. Tongson ki cannot be categorized as a chon'gi sosol. Tongson ki is also a work for lay reader, and its earthly nature proves that it can be a medium-length Scholar-Beauty Romance. One of the forerunners of medium-length Scholar-Beauty Romances for lay reader is Jiao-hong-ji (嬌紅記) in Yuan dynasty. Depicting love affair differently from the way chon'gi sosol in Tang dynasty, Jiao-hong-ji became the forerunner of Scholar-Beauty Romance in Ming and Qing dynasties. The record regarding Jiao-hong-ji began to appear in Korea since King Yonsan (燕山君). Jiao-hong-ji and Tongson ki is similar in size. It is not a baseless conjecture to say that there exists connection between the two works.
