기업 OPIc 영어 말하기 시험 콘텐츠의 활용에 관한 탐색 연구: 대학생 영어 진단 프로그램 사례 = Application of Global Corporation’s Diagnostic Assessment of OPIc Preparation to a University English Program

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 단기 속성 영어 시험 준비 대안 탐색을 위하여 기업 OPIc 시험 준비 진단 콘텐츠(김나희, 2022)를활용한 대학생 영어 진단 프로그램 사례제시이다. 실행연구 절차에 따라서 대학 비교과 OPIc 시험 준비 진단 프로그램으로적용하였다. 본 연구자는 프로그램 담당 교수자이며 프로그램에 자발적 신청한 취업 준비 대학생 3명이 참여하였다.
OPIc 시험 준비 진단 절차 및 분석(김나희, 2022)을 활용하여 참여 대학생의 일대일 진단을 총 3가지 항목(1. 시험지식 이해, 2. 시험 준비 수행, 3. 언어 구술 수행)으로 실시하였다. 관찰, 연구일지, 면담, 학습자 발화 샘플 등의자료 수집 후, 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 첫째, 공통적으로 참여자들은 1. 시험 지식 이해 항목에서 시험 형태 및절차에 대한 지식이 없었으며, 2. 시험 준비 수행의 경우는 영어 말하기 시험 준비 경험이 없었다. 3. 언어 구술수행 진단에서는 학습자별 영어 능숙도 차이가 있었다. 진단 후 처방 교육에 참여한 학습자는 즉각적인 발화변화를보였다. 본 연구 의의는 단기 속성 영어 시험 준비 문제 해결을 위한 대학의 학습자 영어 진단 프로그램 사례제시이다.
하지만. 비교과 프로그램의 자발적 학습자 신청으로 많은 수의 학습자를 모집하기는 어려웠다. 진단 후 처방 교육도학습자 선택에 따라서 제한적이었다. 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 기업과 다른 대학 맥락을 반영하는 교육과정, 진단평가, 교실 활동, 교재개발 등의 다양한 영어 말하기 (시험 준비) 진단 및 처방 콘텐츠로 기획 및 실행될 필요가 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to design and conduct a case study on the application of a global corporation’s diagnostic assessment of Oral Proficiency Interview-computer (OPIc) test preparation (Kim, 2022) to a university’s extracurricular English program. To achieve this, this study adopts Kemmis and Taggart's (1998) action research procedure. Data were collected through interviews with university students and staff, observations, documentation, and a research journal. The program consisted of three assessment components: test knowledge, test preparation methods, and English-speaking proficiency. Three students voluntarily participated in the study and were assessed by the researcher. The findings revealed a gap between test preparation context of the global corporation and the university. The students lacked knowledge of the test content and preparation methods. Their speaking proficiency levels ranged from Level 0 (Novice) to Level 3 (Intermediate-mid). These findings have implications for future research on revising assessment procedures and exploring two modes-an assessment-only mode and a pre/post-test intervention mode-based on participants’ reactions and the researcher’s reflections on the program. This study suggests that there is a need to understand the university context for English-speaking test preparation and develop more assessable and manageable procedures and guidelines that can be applied to university students
