      The effects of high temperature on the style elongation and the pollen fertility were investigated in different ecotypes of tomato. 'Moneymaker' and the two breeding lines named 'CL 1131' seemed to be heat-tolerant cultivar with appearance of abnormally elongated style and the pollen fertility to abnormally elongated style and the pollen fertility to high temperature.
      To investigate the germination ability and fertility of pollen, anthers were detached and pollens were incubated under the different temperature(15~35℃) on the agar medium.
      The optimal temperature for pollen fertility was 25 to 35℃. 'Moneymaker' was the highest and 'Ogata Zuiko' was the lowest rates of pollen fertility in all the treatments. For the pollen germination, the optimal temperature was 25℃ in all the cultivars, but at 35℃ they lost the ability of pollen germination. 'Moneymaker' also had a high ability than the other cultivars.
      Under the serious conditions in the growth chamber, all the three cultivars showed the high temperature injuries in vegetative and reproductive growth. But 'Moneymaker' is superior in fruit set than the other two cultivars under high temperature conditions.
