This article examines the genre specificity of reading report, and analyzes the students’ reading report by focusing on the cohesive marker, and then presents the direction of the reading report education. Reading report is different from other texts in that the world of books and the world of readers interchange. In order to write a good reading report, you need to be able to think about the relationship between these two worlds and integrate them naturally. After analyzing students’ reading report, students were very immature in the ways and strategies of connecting the two worlds. It is difficult to write a good reading report only by explicit and formal presentation of the text structure such as ‘contents of book + appreciation’. It is required to raise awareness of the characteristics of reading genre and its ability to grasp the rhetorical situation. And you have to develop your thinking ability to integrate the world of the book with the world of the reader.
