The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of social capital on exercise commitment and adherence of university badminton club. In this study, 301 valid sample data were extracted from students who have joined the badminton club of universities in Busan, Ulsan and Gyeongnam Province with convenience sampling method.
The questionnaire were used in this study consisted of 38 question including 7 questions on demographic characteristics, 12 question on social capital, 9 questions on exercise commitment and 10 questions on
exercise adherence.
Data analysis methods for hypothesis testing were performed using exploratory factor analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis using SPSS/PC version 25.0. And Ducan test was performed as a post-hoc test. The conclusions of this study were as follows;
First, in the difference of social capital according to demographicvariables, men showed higher trust than women, and the higher the grade, the longer the activity period, and the higher the number of activities, the higher the communication.
Second, in the difference of commitment according to demographic variables, men showed higher cognitive commitment than women, and higher grade showed higher behavioral commitment. The longer the
activity period, the higher the cognitive commitment and behavioral commitment. The higher the number of activities, the higher the cognitive commitment and behavioral commitment.
Third, in the difference of exercise adherence according to demographic variables, male showed higher exercise ability and exercise friend than female, and grade showed significant difference in exercise friend. The
longer the participation period, the higher the exercise ability. The shorter the activity period, the higher the exercise environment. The more activity participation, the higher the exercise ability and exercise friend.
Fourth, Trust and communication, a sub-variable of social capital, had positive effect on cognitive commitment and behavioral commitment, a sub-variable of Exercise Commitment.
Fifth, Trust and communication, a sub-variable of social capital, had positive effect on exercise ability, exercise friend and exercise environment, a sub-variable of Exercise Adherence.
Sixth, Cognitive commitment and behavioral commitment, a sub-variable of Exercise Commitment had positive effect on exercise ability, exercise friend and exercise environment, a sub-variable of Exercise Adherence.
