Amid the recent worsening economies of Korea and around the world, the major interest of the general public centers around economic recovery. As prices have risen, especially for daily commodities, including gasoline, grains, and other foods, consumers have turned to economical consumption, and showed lower levels of desires for cultural activities, which prompted all corporations to create changes and innovations for their 'survival'. Big corporations seem to have stabilized their large sales revenues by dominating the retail industry with aggressive strategies including VMD, thanks to their enormous capital invested in large discount stores, department stores, distributors with chain stores, home shopping channels, or online stores. On the other hand, small and medium-sized brands have rarely been able to utilize the VMD strategies, due to a lack of clear information. Therefore, I decided that developing a tool-kit that can be easily utilized by small and medium-sized firms to boost their capabilities was essential. This study is intended to identify the components of VMD and establish its platform to be used as a database for designing of VMD Tool-Kit.
