As serious problem of resources and environment is growing worldwide, the world is making an effort and investment to support many requests for sustainable development. For this reason, Green Building Certification Criteria has been implemented to induce the reduction of environmental load, high-performance and environmentally friendly in the United States, the United Kingdom and Japan. In response to the global trend like this, the Korean Government has induced the eco-friendly construction and sustainable development to implement the G-SEED (Green Building Certification Criteria of Korea) in 2002. Especially apartment houses account for most of certification records of G-SEED and recent cases of certification are on the rise. However, in spite of the many authentication result, G-SEED has been pointed out that it needs for improve in the Evaluation system. Also, the issue of environmental effectiveness are brought up in the section of environment-friendly houses. Studies for handling the issue are necessary. Therefore, this study is going to get the basic data for the improvement of G-SEED in the future through comparative analysis of the evaluation systems of the LEED in the U.S., BREEAM in the UK, G-SEED in the Korea. After comparing, This study analysed energy effectiveness of environment-friendly certified apartment houses comparing energy consumption and CO2 emission of environment-friendly certified apartment houses with general apartment houses. According to analysis result, it was verified that environment-friendly certified apartment houses used more energy and emitted more CO2.
