This thesis intends to deal with the issues of Korean feminist literary criticism in the 2000’s and the tasks it entails.
First, the latest discourse about femininity approves the various, plural genders and redefines femininity as alienated, which is related with subversion or deviation. However, this concept of femininity might erase sexual difference, so it has the problem of losing its own identity as the feminist literary criticism.
Second, recent women’s literature represents a subject who rarely thinks about sexual difference or feels no unity between sex and gender. So it is necessary to suppose a new female subject who can relate to the changing world. That is, we must recognize the various differences such as class, race, generation, and region in women and establish a new ethics accepting new kinds of solidarity or heterogeneity.
Third, regarding feminist genealogy, ‘the politics of memory’ and ‘the politics of difference’ can be the future task of feminist literature.
In conclusion, women’s literature in the 2000’s needs to strenthen the aspect of political practice for feminism as well as an aesthetic subversion.
