      Using mixed methodology, this research examined and compared the beliefs of elementary preservice teachers and their teacher education professors about the role of teacher, the readiness of preservice teachers to be teachers, and the perceptions regarding teacher education classes. The research findings indicated that elementary preservice teachers and their teacher educators held different beliefs about the roles of a teacher, presevice teachers’ readiness to teach, and teacher education classes. These different beliefs and values suggested a need for reconceptualizing the way teacher educators communicate with preservice teachers.
