In this paper, the influence of reinforced concrete shear wall artificially-introduced opening in the reduction of the wall strength and stiffness has beenn investigated by means of a new finite element analysis(FEA) technique using ABAQUS. In order to propose the FEA models, this study constructed a finite element model(FEM) previously. The FEM account for the effects of material inelasticity, concrete cracking, geometric nonlinearity and bond-slip of steel and concrete. Next this study proposed real size of reinforced concrete shear walls with artificially-introduced opening after proposing small model of reinforced concrete shear walls with artificially-introduced opening. In order to verify the proposed FEA model, a parametric study has been carried out using parameters that the vertical and horizontal percentage and position of existing rectangular reinforced concrete shear wall opening and the effect of opening on the increase of story. The analytical results were validated through comparisons with the experimental results and the theory that ACI 318-05 and AIJ. The analysis showed good agreement between the experimental results and the theory.
