중국 인민해방군 연구의 동향과 쟁점 = Trends and Issues about Chinas Peoples Liberation Army Studies

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper aims to review recent trends and issues of Chinas PLA, which is perceived as backing a rising China as well as being a major actor in Chinese politics. Regarding the political relations between party and army, there seems to be a new pattern of party-army relations that is related to the fourth generation leadership of China. Regarding the military aspect, modernization parallel to the economic development of China can be viewed as ongoing policy principal. Regarding the aspect of international security, the Chinese military build-up is accountable to some extent for the 　theory of a Chinese threat. The cross-straits relation is the greatest unresolved problem for China. It seems that this problem will remain a big issue in East Asia. Another problem concerns the possibility that Chinese arms are exported to 　terror states　 (or rogue states), while at the same time China uses the excuse of the danger of terror to modernize its army through imports of up-to-date military equipment from advanced states.
