박수근의 생애와 예술세계에 관한 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

朴壽根이 생존하던 시기는 西歐의 文物이 물밀듯이 쏟아져 들어오던, 이른바 新文化의 홍수 속에서 우리 사회의 모든 분야가 西歐文化에 크게 影響을 받던 때이다.
韓國人 특유의 소박성과 인정미를 지니고 항상 眞實되게 살려고 애쓴 畵家 朴壽根은 그 自身의 作品世界에서도 소박함과 인정미를 강하게 表出시키고 있다. 그는 거의 모노톤( Monotone )으로 花崗巖의 表面질감을 연상시키는 마티에르( Matiere )를 사용하여, 흰옷의 담백하고 전형적인 韓國의 人物象을 그려내었다. 이러한 그의 作品들은 韓國的 洋畵의 代表作들로 評價받고 있다.
당시의 韓國人 畵家들의 作品傾向이 그러했듯이, 그의 作品에도 印象主義( Impressionism )的 要素가 강하게 드러나 있다. 그러나 그는 다른 作家들과는 달리 이러한 新美術에 휩쓸려 들어가서 自己自身을 상실하는 것이 아니라, 이 西歐美術思潮를 수단으로 하여서 韓國的인 것, 民族的인 것을 훌륭히 畵面에 表出시키고 있는 것이다. 그의 色彩는 황토흙 내음을 풍겨주며, 그의 질감은 韓國의 山河에 널려있는 花崗巖의 표면을 연상케 한다.
그의 作品이 이렇듯이 洋畵를 통해서 韓國的, 民族的 畵面을 구축 할 수 있었던 것은 朴壽根 자신의 天性이 착하고 인정미로 충만해 있었기 때문이며, 결코 外部에 附和雷同함이 없이 굳굳하게 자신의 世界를 지탱해 나가는 강한 自意識이 있었기 때문이다.
朴壽根은 正規 美術敎育課程을 이수하지 못하고 獨學으초 洋畵를 체득한, 당시 畵家로서는 특이한 작가이다. 그가 美術에 대해 공부한 것은 모두가 新聞, 雜誌, 展覽會 등을 통해서였다.
이러한 그의 불우한 환경은 오히려 그로 하여금 어느 流派에 물들지 않고 독자적인 作品世界를 구축할 수 있게 해주는 긍정적인 要因으로 作用하는 것이다. 실상, 朴壽根은 어느 流波에 소속됨이 없었다. 또 그의 환경으로서는 그럴 수도 없었다. 그에게는 學緣이나 知緣이 없었다. 그와 절친했던 사람들은 學緣이나 知緣이라기 보다는 平凡한 동료였을 뿐이다.
韓國의 洋畵畵壇이 그 어느 분야에 못지않게 活潑한 오늘날에 있어서, 초창기 韓國 洋畵畵壇을 성실하고 굳굳하게 살아온 韓國的 洋畵作家 朴壽根의 一生과 藝術世界는 다시금 부각되고 있다.
이 論文은 남다른 환경에서 특유의 소박성·인정미를 바탕으로 하여 독자적이면서도 동시에 가장 韓國的인 作品世界를 西洋式 造形方法으로 表出시킨 畵家 朴壽根의 藝術世界에 關한 考察이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The times when Park, So0 Koon was alive Korea was inthe flux of occidental culture, otherwise in those times our whole society was under the influence of occidental culture.
Park, S. Koon always tried hard with his Korean characteristic of purity and modesty to make his life sincere, as an artist he expressed purity and modesty into his own paintiags. With the monotomously colored matiere which associates the texture of granite, the white colored modest and human women's figures are emerging from his paintings. These his painting, nowadays, are being appreciated as the masterpieces of Korean style occidental paintings (Korean western painting).
As those were Korean artists style in those times, Park's paintings also had the influenced factors from Impressionism and Art Imformel. Even thought, Park was different from other artists; he was never indulged in occidental painting style to loss himself, but took advantage of some of occidental pattern to express the traditional and racial characteristic. The hue fragrants feeling of ochre yellow clay, and the texture makes us to associate the lying around, everywhere in Korea, granite.
What makes his paintings to be traditional and racial square, he's using occidental painting material, are those of Park's pure and modest given characteristic; he had firm self-consciousness, which sustained his artistic world of painting without any blind following.
Park didn't get any regular fine arts educational career, this is a scarce case to be seen in those times, he studied everything of fine arts for himself. He studied fine arts with newspapers, maguzines, and art exhibitions. Therefore, this bad situation helped him to construct his own outstanding artistic world. In fact, he wasn't engaged in any artistic school, and in his case he couldn't do so. He didn't have any educational or relational background, his companions were not alumni or relations but just friends.
Nowadays, the Korean occidental painting world is very thriving, not less than Korean style oriental painting (Koran painting) or sculpture, and the life story and artistic world of park who had led pure and steady life in Korean occidental painting world is coming upon.
This thesis is about the artistic world of Soo Koon Park who had expressed the most Korean style painting world individually with occidental way in t h e basement of specific purity and modesty.
