‘출구’로서의 평생교육 - 인문학의 위기에 대한 평생교육적 진단 = Lifelong Learning as an Exit : An Educational Diagnosis on the Critical Situation of Humanities

국문 초록 (Abstract)

  인문학의 위기는 그간 인문학이 시대의 변화에 무감했기 때문에 초래된 것으로 받아들여져 왔다. 그러나 인문학의 핵심에 소통이 있으며, 인문학은 인간을 인간답게 만드는 과정과 결합되어있음을 고려할 때, 고담준론에 머무르는 인문한의 본질적 특성을 상실한 상태라 볼 수 있다. 교육학적으로 보자면, 인문학의 위기는 ‘자유인을 위한 교육’이라는 인문학 고유의 목적을 상실하면서 시작된 것이라 할 수 있다. 인문교육과 동의어로 사용되는 교양교육이나 일반교육, 고전교육 개념들은 인문교육의 일부분을 강조하고는 있으나, 그 핵심어인 ‘자유인’개념을 잃고 있다. 이런 시각으로 보면, 인문학적 평생교육운동은 모든 계층에 대한 인문교육을 제공하면서 인문학의 위기 탈출을 위한 대안을 제시하고 있다고 하겠다. 인문교육운동은 인문학과 교육학 양자에 대해 일정한 지향점을 제공하고 있는 것이다. 이 글은 인문학과 인문교육의 개념을 역사적으로 정리하고, 교육의 원래적 모습을 복원하는 과정으로서 평생교육을 설정, 인문학적 위기 탈출을 위한 교육의 조건을 탐색한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

  The critical situation of humanities is regarded as a result of the ignorance keeping up with rapid social change. In the educational viewpoint, liberal education which is the educational embodiment of humanities have supported the philosophy of education and considered as the basis of education for a long time. However, over a long period of time, the core of liberal education has been changed from the "formation of well-rounded person" to the "amateur education" or "valueless indoctrination". Recently, liberal education is interpreted as "general education", "cultural education" or "intellectual education".<BR>  This study aims at discovering the deterioration of liberal education in terms of lifelong learning. The early stage of lifelong learning shows the power of liberal arts and the will of people to learn humanities. In addition, adult education movement such as Clement Course which is focusing on the liberal education for the poor insists that liberal arts are efficient and effective even in the information society. Considering the crisis of liberal arts are caused by school-oriented practices, lifelong learning perspective and experience provide us with the way to actualize the potentiality of liberal education.
