Among the areas of students in class, the area of appreciation has a strong effect on middle schoolers building up their personalities as well as sensibilities. Students through of the music can be good human beings that appreciation class intends to have an insight into the inner meaning of a work of music, have a deeper understanding of music, appreciate its aesthetic value.
The purpose of this study realized that important appreciate music textbook and make a comparative analysis of appreciation area among eight differend middle school music textbooks of the revised in 2007 curriculum, and analyze by present standard.
The methods of the study make a standard of classification for appreciation activity and analysis basis of appreciation music contents, analysis of the scope of appreciation section by fields, frequencies, composers, periods and by forms of performance.
Followings are the results of the study;
First, appreciation accounts for the highest rate in 8music texts, the second is vocal music, playing performance and compasing are in the order. they are out of balance.
Second, according to the rate of appreciation music contents. in korean, western, and multiple culturem, that of muliple culture shows a little higher than the others.
Third, Korean music is collected total 89 in appreciation collection. The most collected song as a theme is Sujecheon. Collected in 8 texts, western music is collected 96 multiple culture 116.
Fourth, While western music is in classical and romantic age, korean music is concentrated on those of Chosun dynasity. classification of age is not properly completed.
Fifth, Traditional music contains 14 composers (creative folk music and modern music) and western music does 42 composers
Sixth, There are 29 korean music and 17western music in the analysis of genres.
Seventh, Korean music includes 32 instrumental concert as the highest rate, western music does 41 instrumental concert in the analysis of performance medium.
Eighth, According to the connection of revised texts in 2007, Sekwang , Hyundae , theTeck , Taesung Texts contain three terms of appreciation.
Textbook writers are considered that every textbook contains epochal contents so as to motivate students to study national classical music and to lead musical activities but I think that the appreciation province needs to be partially complemented or revised.
However, the insuffcient number of music classes makes it impossible to teach students in diverse ways and to attain the object of the 7th national curricula, even if each textbook gives equal weight to different types of song in appreciation area and music teacher tries to conduct quality instructions by mapping out a thorough lesson plan. To remove this problem, it's mandatory to secure enough education time.
