      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

      The human being have lived with soil ever since they took their root onthis land. Therefore, they were easily accustomed to the soil. They have used the soil in the various ways and expended the scope of usage. This part has developed into ceramic art. Korea has long and sublime history of ceramic art. The practice of using culinary salt in ceramic baking originated from Cologne in Germany in the later half of the 12th century. It expanded into the whole Europe area and later into the North America around 1720 by European immigrants. After the using of bristol glaze was introduced, the practice of using culinary salt was widely neglected. However, when Americas young artists begin to use culinary salt in the later half of the 20th century, the method came into spotlight again. Korea introduced the usage during the Japanese occupation. In 1980's some young artists began to introduce some art works using culinary salt in ceramic baking. However, Korean world of ceramic art using culinary salt did not attract much public area and showed activated movement. Therefore, Korean world of ceramic art was not able to accumulate much study performances in such area as interrelation of culinary salt oil and clay.This study analyzes the results of experiments in which I added culinary salt glaze on Korean clay. I hope this study world help ceramic artists expand their scope of expression through usage of culinary salt.
