Objective: The purpose of this study is to analyze the metaphors of safety education in order to find out the meaning of safety education as perceived by teachers. Methods: This study collected and analyzed the metaphors of teachers’ perceptions of safety education by 148 early childhood teachers using an open questionnaire. Results: The result of this study re- vealed that the metaphors appeared in the following order: 'education that must be done,' 'education for fostering safe lifestyle habits,' and 'education emphasizing the role and respon- sibility of teachers. Conc lus i ons: Through these results, we can find the importance of safety education to infant teachers, the direction of current safety education, and the perspectives on positive and problematic aspects. We hope that the results of this study will be used pos- itively as a basis to support the professional development and implementation of safety edu- cation for infant teachers.
