반성 없는 근대적 주체의 초상 : 조연현의 1950년대 비평 연구 = The Portrait of the Modern Subject That does not Reflect on Itself - A Study on Jo, Yeon-hyun's Criticisms in the 1950s

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 조연현의 1950년대 문학 비평을 중심으로 주체에 대한 확신과 신뢰를 근거로 하는 생리비평과 휴머니즘을 고찰함으로써 반성 없는 근대적 주체를 표상하는 조연현 비평의 원리를 밝히고자 한다. 조연현은 객관성을 지향하는 비평은 생명 없는 무가치한 비평이라고 믿었다. 따라서 비평에 생명을 줄 수 있는 창조성을 지닌 비평가의 역할을 강조하는 생리 비평을 주장하게 된다. 생리비평은 비평의 방법론과 논리보다는 창조적 비평-주체의 주관적 세계를 표현한다. 그리고 이러한 생리비평이 담고 있는 문학 정신이 바로 휴머니즘이다. 조연현의 휴머니즘은 현대의 위기에 대응하는 문학정신이며, 불안과 절망의 분열 상태에 빠진 주체가 아니라 신적인 권위를 지닌 인간 주체에 가치를 부여한다. 이처럼 조연현이 절대적이고 무한한 신뢰를 보내는 주체는 자기를 반성할 줄 모르며, 비이성적인 ‘생리’로 표현되건, 절망과 불안의 표정을 하건 간에 1950년대의 새로운 근대성을 표상하기는 어렵다. 주체를 절대적으로 신뢰하면서 주체의 자기반성과 성찰을 말하기는 어렵기 때문이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study examined physiology criticism that contradicts the methodology and logic, and humanism, the literary spirit, as the structural principles of Jo, Yeon-hyun's criticism on the basis of Jo's literary criticisms in the 1950s that sought to find the values of criticism through the valuelessness of criticism.
Physiology criticism opposes lifeless criticism that produces the same conclusions by the methodology and logic not accumulate by the subject, and pursues the creation of values that express and complete the critic's own world through the accurate judgment of an object. After all, the creator-subject remains in a world of subjectivity that excludes the methodology and logic. Humanism, the literary spirit established through the exclusion of ideology and ideas, disregards an in-depth exploration of the subject in the state of anxiety, frustration and desperation by giving absolute beliefs to the human subject, the object of literature.
The principles of Jo, Yeon-hyun's criticism lack reflection on the subject as the creator of literature, and the human subject as the object of literature. The subject that does not reflect on itself finds it difficult to express the spirit of the 'anti-modern' whether it is manifested in expressions of irrational ‘physiology’ or desperation and anxiety. The subject believed absolutely and unlimitedly by Jo, Yeon-hyun's is not the powerless and disrupted subject that has experienced desperation, but the desirable human being with dignity and values, and modern subject that ensures the human being is the owner of the universe by developing scientific technology.
