This study aims to understand the direct effect of empathy ability and emotional expression on the interaction between child-care teachers and infants, and the indirect effect of empathy ability and emotional expression on the interaction of infants through the personality of the child-care teacher. For this purpose, we tried to analyze the relationship through path analysis. In order to proceed with the research, data of 847 child-care teachers working at child-care facilities in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, Incheon, and Gyeongsang-do were analyzed using the SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 22.0 programs, and the research results are as follows.
First, the empathy ability of child-care teachers was found to have a significant effect on the teacher-infant interaction. Second, the emotional expressiveness of child-care teachers was found to have a significant positive effect on the teacher-infant interaction. Third, the personality of child-care teachers was found to have a positive and significant effect on the teacher-infant interaction. Fourth, the mediating effect of personality was found to be significant in the effect of empathy ability between teacher-infant interaction. Fifth, the mediating effect of personality was significant in the effect of emotional expressiveness between teacher-infant interaction. Through these results, reflecting the importance of child-care teachers' personality, an important significance can be found in the study of the influence relationship between child-care teachers' empathy ability and emotional expression on teacher-infant interaction. In addition, considering the fact that child-care teachers' empathy ability and emotional expression affect the interaction between teachers and infants, in order to improve the quality of interactions between teachers and infants, efforts should be made to develop and apply programs that can improve empathy ability and emotional expression, which are intrinsic factors of child-care teachers.
