      The cros-species aplication of SR markers, originally developed in melon and cucumber, was examined for watermelon (Citrullus lanatusdiversity. Eighty-two SR loci out of 200 SRs from melons and 96 SRs from the cucumber were detected in the watermelon varieties. Among the 82 primers, 15 revealed polymorphisms in 24 watermelon varieties. In adition, 12 polymorphic primer sets were selected from 52 of the SRs derived from the watermelon. A total of 72 polymorphic amplified fragments were tion content (PIC) was 0.34, ranging from 0.15 to 0.61. A total of 72 SR loci were employed to calculate Jacard’s distance coeficients for a UPGMA cluster analysis.
