특집논문 : 세계화 시대 한국의 역사학과 역사교육 －서양사의 시선－ = History and History Education in Korea: From the Perspective of Western History

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문이 다루고자 하는 첫 번째 문제는 현재 국내에서 학문으로서의 역사학과 역사교육의 관계가 어떤 상황인가이다. 대다수 역사가들은 자신의 정체성을 역사학 연구에서 찾고 있으며, 민주사회 건설을 위한 역사교육의 중요성을 잘 인식하고 있음에도 불구하고 역사 교육에 대해서는 일반적으로 무관심하다는 것이 안타까운 현실이다. 박근혜 정권에 의해 독단적으로 추진되고 있는 역사교과서 국정화사태에 직면하여 이러한 상황은 하루 빨리 극복되어야 한다. 역사교과서 국정화 시도의 근본 동기를 형성하는 핵심적인 문제는 역사해석을 둘러싼 갈등이다. 이와 관련하여 이 논문이 조명하고자 하는 두 번째 문제는 근현대사에서 어느 국가보다 더욱 다양하고 심각한 갈등으로 점철된 독일의 경우 역사교과서를 둘러싼 정치적-이념적 갈등이 왜 없는가이다. 세가지 설명이 가능하다. 첫째, 교과서 승인 제도에서 보이는 정책적 유연성, 둘째, 역사교육이 지향하는 정체성 교육의 성격, 그리고 셋째, 다양한 관점과 해석을 유도하는 교과서 서술 구조이다. 독일의 사례는 현재 우리 사회가 역사 해석을 둘러싸고 겪고 있는 갈등의 근본적인 해결책이 어디에 있는지 잘 시사해준다. 논문이 강조하고자 하는 또 한 가지 중요한 포인트는 최근 역사교과서 국정화 사태가 한국사 연구자와 서양사연구자에 의해 다소 상이하게 체감된다는 사실이다. 문제의 본질은 최근 몇몇 연구자들의 비판적 연구와 부단한 노력에도 불구하고 한국사가 여전히 벗어나지 못하고 있는 “민족 담론”이며 역사교과서를 둘러싼 정치 사회적 갈등을 근본적으로 해결하기 위해서는 이 문제가 하루 빨리 극복되어야할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The first question this paper try to research is “how good is the relation between the historiography als science and history education in Korea nowadays?” The majority of historians in Korea find their own identity still in the research rather than in the education. although they recognize the importance of the history education for the democratic society. In the face of the plan of the Park regime, national history textbook to compile, this situation is quickly as possible to be reformed. The second question is “why are political-ideological controversies concerning German history textbooks difficult to elucidate?” First, the textbook publishing and authorizing policy in Germany is becoming less controlled; it is moving from an official certification system by the states to a free publishing system and thus facilitates the coexistence of varied perspectives and interpretations. Second, with the unification of Germany, Europeanization and a multicultural society, Germany has established an open, pluralistic identity education, which is a crucial part of history education. Third, the narratives and structures of German history textbooks try to help cultivate the multi-perspective views. From the German example we should learn the important implication. The last point this paper try to emphasize is that, unfortunatly, the recent national history textbook crisis is felt differently between the Korean history researchers and western history researchers in Korea.
