Purpose – A systematic scrutiny of the methodologies, subjects, and focal points in health services research in China offers valuable insights into the current state and progress in this field. By scrutinizing the existing literature, one can discern the strengths and weaknesses of health services research in China, thereby furnishing informative guidance for refining the research agenda and charting a more optimal trajectory for futuredevelopment.
Design/Methodology/Approach – Employing CiteSpace and VOSviewer software, we endeavor to elucidate the landscape of health services research in China and identify its prominent thematic focuses.
Findings – Visual scrutiny reveals that at present, the management of healthcare services in China necessitates a pronounced focus on geriatric health service research; an augmentation of studies in health education; an
intensification of inquiries into the development of health service support systems; a continued delve into mental health and social well-being realms; and innovative explorations of rural health service challenges, constituting prospective research directions.
Research Implications – Quantitative and visual analyses of Chinese health services research, leveraging bibliometric methodologies, offer a more objective, precise, and expedient means to enhance comprehension and
awareness of the field’s advancements.
