忠談師 記事를 통해 본 경덕왕대 茶 문화 = The Tea Culture of King Gyeongdeok's Era through the Records of Chungdamsa

국문 초록 (Abstract)

7, 8세기의 차사(茶事)를 기록한 몇몇 자료가 있다. 그러나 이들을 통해서 당대의 차(茶) 문화 양상을 전반적으로 파악하기는 어렵다. 『삼국유사』 소재 충담사 기사는 다른 기록과 달리 서사 전체가 차와 관련된 유일한 것이다. 본고는 이를 통해 경덕왕대 차 문화의 전반적인 양상을 이해하고자 하였다. 논의의 결과는 우리 차 문화의 사적(史的) 체계를 세우는 데 기여할 것이다.
충담의 앵통과 다구는 이 시대 차 문화의 유행 양상을 보여주는 하나의 사례이다. 차를 마시기 위한 과정에서 주인의 정성과 예의는 다구의 운용을 통해 규식(規式)과 예법으로 표현된다. 나아가 다구의 사용은 차 문화가 심미적 경향성을 지니게 됨을 의미한다. 즉, 앵통과 다구의 사용은 한편으로는 차 문화가 더욱 품위 있고 정치해졌다는 점과, 한편으로는 또 다른 차원으로 문화적 확산이 이루어졌다는 것을 뜻한다.
충담의 미륵세존에 대한 차 공양은 민속 절기에 사찰에서 행해진 제사 의식이다. 이는 실질적으로는 호국신이나 화랑 등을 추모하기 위한 것이다. 제사나 불전에서의 헌차뿐만 아니라 화랑도의 제의, 그리고 민속절기의 제전에 차가 쓰였다는 것은 차가 사회적 의례에 폭넓게 수용되고 있었음을 보여주는 사례이다.
귀정루 회합은 차회의 원형을 보인다. 귀정루를 그 장소로 택한 것은 차 문화가 지닌 심미적인 측면을 고려한 것이다. 나아가 모임을 통해 왕이 스스로를 성찰하고, 백성들의 삶을 새롭게 인식하게 된 것도 차 문화가 지닌 자각성의 반영이라고 볼 수 있다.
당대 차인 형상에 대한 기본적인 인식을 경덕왕의 충담에 대한 시각에서 볼 수 있다. 차인은 차를 내면화한 사람이다. 차인으로서 검소한 덕을 지녔기 때문에 엄정하고 객관적인 시각에서 문제의 근원을 진단하여 노래로 표현할 수 있었다. 가장 기본적인 인간의 관계성을 회복한다면 백성은 편안해질 수 있다는 노래의 주지(主旨)는 실상 지극히 상식적인 것이지만, 이는 차인이라면 늘 자각하는 차 정신이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The middle and second half of the 9th century are the full-fledged formation period of our tea culture. However, we do not fully understand the tea culture of the previous period. The Chungdam Article is the only record that the entire narrative is related to tea culture as a record at the time. This paper tried to understand the overall aspect of tea culture during the King Gyeongdeok period through the Chungdam Article. The results of the discussion will contribute to the establishment of the historical system of our tea culture.
Chungdam's tea a tea bowls are an example of the trend of tea culture in this era. The owner's sincerity and courtesy to welcome customers are expressed through the use of tea ceremony. The use of tea utensils means that tea culture has become sophisticated and elegant. Chungdam's offerings indirectly show that tea was used in Hwarangdo's ritual. An important function of Hwarangdo was a rite to God and tea was put on it. Chungdam's offerings are an example of tea rituals being widely accepted in social rituals at the time. Gwijeongru's meeting archetypally shows the characteristics of the tea party. This meeting shows the typicality of the tea party in that it aims for aesthetics on the one hand, reflects on the self on the other, and makes the people recognize the lives of the people. Cha-in is a person who internalizes tea. Chungdam has a frugal virtue. Therefore, you can look at other problems from the root with an objective perspective.
